Wow, another weekend come & gone. It was great working out in the garden, even it was pulling the weeds. It amazes me how one day you can look at a patch of earth that is barren, and the next, you see the fruits of last year's labor beginning to pop their little green heads towards the sun.
I feel blessed that I have a wonderful husband who supports my crazy need for flowers & plants that are "different". Each year we add more "flower power" to our backyard, which means he has to dig up & till more of our icky clay dirt that we have & make it usable for me.
I was hoping we could add a small vegetable garden this year, but I think I will only get to plant cucumbers & maybe (fingers crossed) those gourds you can make into bird houses.
As if I need another hobby , I am hoping to learn to make bird houses from gourds. I would REALLY like to learn to do the lathe, but that is an expensive hobby to start if I suck at it... snicker. So, if I can grow the gourds, at least it will be cheap.
Next weekend we are going to surprise my mom for her 80th birthday. The "girls" are going to take her to eat dinner, see Billy Elliot & stay downtown at a Kimpton Hotel. She thinks she is just going with my one sister, but all four sisters, my aunt & my sister in law are going to be there. Next weekend she is having "Poker Night" and we are going out to the Stage Stop Restaurant for dinner. What party animals we are!
I thank God each & every day for my incredible family. We are all close, which is amazing since there are 5 "kids", and we all have each others backs. Oh, we have had our differences, but because we had such amazing parents, we have always found our way back to each other. My mother is one of the most .... most .... most ... there is just not any single word I can say. She is the glue that holds our family together and the rock we all lean on. She has always encouraged us to be who we are and to follow our dreams. She has an opinion on everything, and you will know it .... gee & people wonder where I get it from... LOL. Every single day I miss my father. He has been an angel for going on 9 years. It is hard to believe he is gone that long, but then again, he is with us always, so if I need him, I just talk to him & feel his love.
